Off the coast of a small isle, named Shelcat Cay the brigantine Catavenger stood anchored:
The ship's officers, Admiral Winnipeg , the orange Captain Victoria (the captain of the Catavenger) and Lieutenant Commander Vancouver
(the captain of the pirate cat's submarine) along with members of the crew stood on the deck. Vancouver was the Captain of the dirigible "Sprit."
Alas, yet another officer of their band of brave felines had passed on.
Saskatoon
After a long illness Saskatoon had died of natural causes. Something very rare for a member of the fearless band of fighting felines.
Winnipeg read the service.
Winnipeg
Winnipeg read from Ecclesiastes 3:1
“To everything there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven.”
He continued with a funeral prayer of his own.
"Although compared to mortal man the lives of Cat-Kind are short our dear Saskatoon lived a full life.
As we believe in the Creator of the heavens and the earth and all the animals therein we believe she will live on in the afterlife.
We therefore commit this body to the deep to be turned into corruption, looking for the resurrection of the body when the sea shall give up her dead and the life of the world come…"
As he read that the Cat's human known as Shel placed a wreath of snow white roses on the top of a treasure chest now serving for Saskatoon's coffin.
Black Vancouver held one end.
Vancouver
Victoria held the other end of the trunk.
Victoria
The trunk contained Saskatoon's body as well as
containing gold and silver. It was dropped from the stern of the ship.
Weighed by the precious valuable metals it quickly sank.
As they turned back to the ship's bow through tear filled eyes Shel spotted something off the starboard side.
He pointed it out.
Shel pointed out a small figure floating on some wreckage.
The crew quickly lower a boat from the ship.
With Shel rowing Victoria threw out a line.
Victoria
They pulled in a soggy orange figure. It coughed out some salty water. Yes it was Alberta.
She was soaking wet. Her claws still extended with some net in them. She clawed her way out and floated to the surface
and onto some wreckage before she passed out.
She was very much alive. She had clawed through the debris that had weighed her down. And floated up and now lay on a plank from her boat.
The crew brought her aboard their ship. One aboard Alberta quickly regained her consciousness.
EPILOGUE
Thus Alberta joined the band of cats as permanent member.
